I'm Naoki Ichiryu, a visual artist based in Singapore.
Professionally, I create digital illustrations. I can adapt to a variety of styles, ranging from manga, schematic or realistic depending on the purpose.
My past roles include Scientific Illustrator at the National University of Singapore and Game Artist at PD Design Studios.
Privately, I like exploring various traditional media including colour pencils, acrylic paint and polymer clay. I am currently learning handbuilding stoneware pottery and sculptures.
My art is informed by my love for nature and science, as well as fascination in fantastical beings such as Youkai. I want to create art that evokes the sense of wonder and discovery.
Multiple international moves over my lifetime has given me a unique appreciation for the local stories, crafts and aesthetics.
I use @nyokiart as my handle online. ‘nyoki’ is an onomatopoeia of plant growth in Japanese.
